From News Center (Text & Photos by Liu Bozhong, School of Electronic and Information Engineering)The final of the AI Empowering All Industries Super League (AI Super League) Smart City Construction and Innovation Application Competition, hosted by Guangxi's Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Education Department, the Federation of Trade Unions, and the Nanning Municipal People's Government, has recently concluded successfully. In the final, the student team guided jointly by Liu Bozhong from the School of Electronic and Information Engineering and Nie Wei from the Network and Information Technology Center of LZPU competed against teams from top universities including Tsinghua University and Wuhan University. With outstanding performance, the team won the Third Prize.

In this competition, guided strongly by the Liuzhou Environmental Sanitation Management Department, our participating team completed an in-depth government-enterprise-college collaborative project named "Urban Metabolism Agent — An AI-driven Innovative Platform for Smart Domestic Waste Management". This marked the first time our university entered a competition where vocational and general universities compete together. The team advanced into the top 30 of the university division and finally won the Third Prize in the final, ranking 23rd overall and among the top 3 independent participating vocational institutions.

It is reported that the competition is open to participants across China and the ten ASEAN countries, featuring professional tracks and a university track with a focus on innovative practices in smart city construction. In the university track, regular comprehensive universities and vocational institutions compete on an equal footing without separate divisions, which fully reflects the high academic value and prestige of the event. The competition attracted outstanding teams from numerous top universities at home and abroad, including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Tianjin University, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sichuan University, Chongqing University, Tongji University, Central South University, Guangxi University, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Northwest A&F University, as well as the Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur from Malaysia. A total of 1,382 projects were submitted for participation, making the competition extremely fierce. Finally, 30 entries were awarded the First, Second and Third Prizes in total, and 143 entries received Excellence Awards.

LZPU has always been committed to expanding in-depth cooperation among universities, government authorities, industries and enterprises through diverse channels and approaches. This outstanding achievement fully demonstrates the fruitful results of our university's collaborative partnership with government departments. During the preparation for the competition, our team actively communicated with the expert team of the Liuzhou Environmental Sanitation Management Department. The experts provided high-level professional support in policy guidance, analysis of industry pain points, and the formulation of technical indicators. Their efforts greatly facilitated the successful research, development and practical application of the project. It also sets a new model for joint cooperation between the university, government, industry and enterprises, as well as for competition preparation.
